THE DREAM
Like most of us, Henrietta Mears had a dream. Her wish, her burning desire was to show Christ's love to every person she met. By first loving the Lord, she learned to love her neighbor. She brought that love—that spark that defined her life—with her everywhere she went. As her community grew, Christ’s love was flung far and wide, moving mountains, sowing seeds, and changing lives. But Henrietta was not content to reach only those she met during her God-given days. This was Christ's love she was spreading, a love without boundaries or walls. A love so deep, so passionate that nothing in life or death could ever contain it. With that truth as her guide, Henrietta laid down a plan. She took carefully designed steps to ensure the message of Christ's love would reach further than she could ever hope to go. She wanted more. She wanted to walk past where her feet could take her, to reach beyond what her fingers could touch, to share Christ’s love with people she would never know on this side of Glory. Henrietta wanted to leave a legacy. She wanted to be a part of something larger than herself. And so, with Christ as her rock, she founded Forest Home. She set a match to the wick God had prepared and that flame has burned brightly, changing lives well beyond Henrietta's life dream.
THE VISION
Each of us is a steward of this flame. We are called to care for what Henrietta started and what Christ has faithfully sustained throughout His many years of ministry at Forest Home. That is why the Forest Home Foundation was established - to ensure that we continue seeing lives changed through Jesus Christ by endowing the ministry of Forest Home for future generations. For thousands of men and women, the most important decision of their lives has been made at Forest Home. Marriages have been reconciled, pastors have been called, and children have come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. With all that happens at Forest Home daily to change lives, someone needs to be looking long term. As stewards, we are called to be those faithful servants who look past the here and now and consider how we are loving and caring for those we will never meet.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are presented with an opportunity to be a part of something larger than ourselves. Something larger than the days we spend on this earth knowing the Lord; indeed it is larger than our entire lives! By endowing Forest Home with assets that will continually provide for its financial needs, we are ensuring the future of thousands to come after us.
THE NEED
Future generations rely on us to prepare a financial foundation today, so we may carry on Christ's legacy of changing lives tomorrow.
We recognize the following as essential:
- 1) Receiving gifts of appreciated assets such as real estate, business interests, stocks, insurance policies, and retirement plan assets;
- 2) Receiving gifts from wills and trusts, and life income gifts such as charitable remainder trusts and gift annuities;
- 3) Establishing an endowment into which a significant percentage of these gifts can generate ongoing income to fund future ministry.
THE GOAL
The goal of the Forest Home Foundation is to establish a $60,000,000 endowment that will provide resources annually to Forest Home. This endowment will preserve, protect, and provide financial stability and support for generations to come. The Forest Home Foundation Endowment will provide a permanent and enduring source of income, a reliable foundation that ensures the work of Christ will continue at Forest Home for generations to come. Your endowment contribution will be a gift that keeps on giving to Forest Home. Your investment will better the facilities that need work and maintain the beautiful structures that Christ has blessed us with. It will also provide scholarships for campers who are in need of financial assistance and a protective hedge of funding for the legacy of Forest Home.
